TBE Adult Learning Programs Winter 2026

Temple Beth-El
Adult Learning - Winter 2026

Beyond the Bearded Man in the Sky with Rabbi Diamondstein

In this class we will examine Jewish Theology from a number of important angles, hopefully deepening our well of metaphor and imagery and broadening our horizons of faith and belief. We will find other options for understanding the Divine than the problematic classical depictions of the hyper-masculine, omniscient, omni-benevolent, omnipotent Creator who rewards the righteous and punishes the wicked. We will highlight a panoply of modern Jewish thinkers who have opened new pathways toward understanding God, beginning with thinkers from the mid-20th Century and ending with contemporary figures in Jewish thought.

Does the world sometimes feel overwhelming? Are the constant flow of bad news, the beeping and flashing devices, and the demands of work and family draining you and leaving you frazzled or depleted?

The TBE mindfulness minyan might just be the place for you. Refresh your spirit and develop your own ability to ground and center your body and mind and refresh your spirit, drawing on the spiritual resources of mindfulness training and the deep well of Jewish liturgy and sacred text. This class will not be the same as the mindfulness minyan that was offered last Spring.
This class will run for 6 weeks, drop-ins are welcome. No meditation experience required.

Please contact Lisa Friedman with any questions.

Each session will stand on its own, so please feel free to register for as many sessions that interest you.
